Outdoor kitchens
In South Florida the outdoor kitchen isn't a novelty — it's a second primary kitchen used most of the year. We build them to survive the climate: marine-grade stainless and powder-coated cabinetry, sealed stone and porcelain surfaces, proper ventilation over built-in grills, GFCI power and drainage that actually clears a summer downpour.
Custom BBQ islands
Built-in grills, side burners, ventilation hoods, refrigeration, ice makers, sinks and storage laid out around how you cook and where guests stand. Bar-height seating overhangs are engineered for support without visible brackets.

Patios & entertainment areas
Covered lanais, summer rooms and open terraces with outdoor-rated ceilings, fans, lighting, televisions and fireplaces. The finish standard is the same as the interior the space opens onto — because in these homes the two read as one room.
Poolside living spaces
Pool decks, sun shelves, lounge terraces and shaded seating designed as a single environment with the pool rather than a surface placed around it. Surfaces are selected for slip resistance and heat — a beautiful deck you can't walk on barefoot in July is a failed deck.

Pavers & hardscaping
Travertine, porcelain pavers and interlocking concrete pavers set over engineered bases with proper drainage. See our dedicated pavers and driveways page for the detail on base preparation, patterns and materials.
Outdoor lighting
Low-voltage landscape lighting, step and path lighting, uplighting on architecture and planting, and integrated lighting in seating and cooking areas — zoned and controlled so the space works after dark.

South Florida outdoor living design
Everything outdoors here is a materials problem before it's a design problem: salt air, UV, driving rain and humidity. We specify for the climate first, then design within it — which is why our outdoor work still looks right several seasons in.
Shade, screening & year-round use
An outdoor space in South Florida is only as good as its shade and its bug strategy. Solid roofs, louvered pergolas, retractable awnings and planted screening each solve a different problem, and the right answer depends on orientation. West-facing terraces take punishing late-afternoon sun and need solid cover or adjustable louvres; north-facing spaces can often stay open. Screened enclosures extend usable months considerably, and retractable screens let you keep the view when the bugs aren't out.

Outdoor electrical, gas & water
Everything outdoors needs weather-rated devices, GFCI protection and in-use covers. Cooking areas need dedicated circuits; a gas grill or fire feature needs a properly sized and pressure-tested run; sinks and ice makers need supply and, crucially, drainage that doesn't just discharge against the slab. We plan all of it before hardscaping goes down, because chasing services through finished pavers is both ugly and expensive.
Fire features & heating
Gas fire tables, linear fire features and outdoor fireplaces extend the evening use of a terrace and give the space a focal point. Each carries clearance requirements to combustibles and overhead structures, and most require permitting. Built-in versions are considerably better looking than portable units and need to be designed in from the start.
Drainage & the rainy season
South Florida rainfall arrives fast and heavy. An outdoor living area has to shed that water away from the house without pooling on the terrace or undermining the hardscape. We set falls, specify channel and area drains where the geometry demands them, and tie roof drainage into the scheme rather than letting it discharge onto the new patio. This is the least visible part of an outdoor project and the part most likely to cause trouble if it's skipped.
Maintenance expectations
We're straight with clients about upkeep. Natural stone needs periodic sealing. Stainless in a coastal location needs rinsing or it will tea-stain, whatever the grade. Powder-coated aluminum is the lowest maintenance cabinetry option. Timber outdoors, however well finished, is a maintenance commitment. You should choose knowing what each material will ask of you.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a permit for an outdoor kitchen or patio?
Usually yes, and often HOA approval too. Gas, electrical, plumbing and any roofed structure trigger permitting. We handle the applications, drawings and inspections as part of the project.
What materials hold up best in South Florida?
Marine-grade stainless, powder-coated aluminum cabinetry, porcelain and sealed natural stone, and properly rated fixings. Salt air and UV are unforgiving, so specification matters more here than almost anywhere.
Can you work around an existing pool?
Yes. We regularly renovate decks and build outdoor living areas around existing pools, including protecting the pool and equipment throughout the build.
Do you do outdoor lighting and electrical?
Yes: low-voltage landscape lighting, zoned controls, GFCI power for cooking areas and dedicated circuits where required.
